new building for the district office of kelheim in donaupark
In the new building for the Kelheim District Office, their endeavors are reflected by a modern, transparent, and citizen-friendly administration building. With their functional design, the architectural firms Dömges and Raith were able to win the competition to plan the building. The Kelheim administrative district requested that the building should create an adequate framework for the political work of the district assembly and district administrator, as well as enable the employees to work efficiently and flexibly.
It was also important to the client that the architecture of the building match the distinguished position of the building; it is located on the bank of the Danube at the foot of the Befreiungshalle. This was implemented through a four-story square-shaped building with reinforced concrete construction ensuring that space is optimally utilized inside the building. Also, the administration building appears genial due to the choice of colors; the light beige highly-insulated strip window façade with sun protection elements (anodized aluminum wall panel cladding) came from INOCLAD Engineering. These contribute significantly to the realization of an ambitious energy strategy. Kelheim’s district office is an energy-plus building, meaning that it generates more energy than it consumes.
